After collaborating with Arka Kinari in 2024, we join their network of host communities for their second Coastal Communities Conference. This takes place in West Java, Indonesia, in the coastal city of Cirebon and other locations.
This lecture-workshop will be introductory, talking about the role of futures thinking for small organisations, futures literacy in an unstable world, adaptability and imagination. The workshop will be followed by a series of regular meetings to deepen the group's understanding of scenarios that might be valuable for them as ways to begin to make their organisations more futures aware. We will also focus on the use of futures thinking in the creation of cultural and artistic productions; arts thinking as a powerful aspect of futures thinking.
Workshops such as this Futuring Exercise feed into our research project „How Dare You: Arts-based strategies for maintaining useful hope in the climate and other emergencies,“ an arts-based research project with Design Investigations (ID2) and the Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien, supported by the Programm für kunstbasierte Forschung (PEEK) of the Österreichischen Wissenschaftsfonds (FWF) : [10.55776/ART6101324]
